2003 Cedar Fire - Scripps Ranch, CA

The Cedar Fire of October 2003 was devastating to our neighborhood. We lost two houses acros the street from us and the house directly in back of us. As the fire captain stated why we were spared "divine inervention" is the only reason.

Hover's Antiques was on Highway 67 on the way to Ramona, CA. This image was shot before sunrise with the moon setting in the west right over the doorway. I liked the muted colors.

This was the empty lot directly across the street from our house. Chris reading in the easy chair represented just being homesick and wanting the neighborhood back.

"Table Setting" These were the remains of the family's home across the street from us. After the devasting fire on our street that totally destroyed their house I thought the remains of the cutlery took on an interesting perspective.

"Where are the children" was shot at Hover's Antiques on Highway 67 on the way to Ramona.

"rebirth" shows the devastation a couple of months later after the Cedar fire. The tree directly in the middle is backlit and you can see the new growth sprouting from the sides of the tree.

"Beyond the blue door" Early morning light lit up the walls of Hover's Antiques a nice blue color.
